Installation Ceremony 2010/2011

The ‘Installation Ceremony 2010/2011’ was organized and managed by the Toastmasters Executive Committee (Ex-Co) of 2010/2011.

IMG_0118The ‘Installation Ceremony 2010/2011’ started at 7.16pm in the Alumni Lounge when the event’s Sergeant-At-Arms (SAA), Sheuli Nath, began the ice-breaking session. During the session, each member of the audience gave a short introduction about themselves. It was off to a good start. as the audience was laughing and enjoying themselves with the interesting and innovative introductions.

After the ice-breaking session, the Toastmaster of the Evening (TME), Hariandy Noorazman gave a short introduction about ‘Temasek Polytechnic Toastmasters Installation Ceremony 2010/2011’.

The TME then invited the Immediate Past President of Temasek Polytechnic Toastmasters, Kumaran Kephren Ayanari to give the opening address. His address included a review of the achievements made by the Ex-Co of 2009/2010.

In this event, 8 individuals gave an impromptu speech based on a topic, provided by the Table-Topics Master. The audience also showed their excitement by actively contributing ideas to aid each speaker, which proved to be truly an interactive session.

Following the Table Topics Session, were the prepared speeches by Hannah, Alstar and Neranja. Hannah and Alstar are two first-year students and Neranja is one of our club’s three Competent Communicator awardees. The prepared speeches were a testament to both our eventful past and the bright future of the club.

With the Prepared Speeches completed, the Networking and Refreshments session took place.

After which, the Speech Evaluations were made by our honoured guests, Ms. Lim Seh Leng and Ms. Vera Wee. Ms. Lim Seh Leng is the immediate past Area District Governor of Area S4 and Ms. Vera Wee is the current Area District Governor of Area S4. Each Speech Evaluation consisted of feedback and the areas for improvement to help the Hannah and Alstar to improve on their speeches and also to work on their weaknesses.

At 9.20pm, Ms. Vera Wee was invited to award the Ex-Co of 2009/2010 a certificate for their achievements as Competent Leaders (CL) and Competent Communicators (CC) during their term of office.

Vera then led the installation for the new Ex-Co. The Toastmasters Gavel was held by each new Ex-Co member, as Vera Wee summarised their roles and responsibility. Then a question was followed to confirm their commitment and allegiance to the club. After the Ex-Co member agreed, their officer’s pin was given to them.
